At Trinity CE Primary School we have high aspirations and ambitions for our children and we believe that no child should be left behind.

We strongly believe that it is not about where you come from, but your passion and thirst for knowledge, and your dedication and commitment to learning that make the difference between success and failure, and we are determined to ensure that our children are given every chance to realise their full potential.

We believe that one of the biggest barriers for children can be poverty of expectation and so are determined to create a climate that does not limit a child’s potential in any way.

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding given to schools to help children from lower income families to do their very best. This funding helps:

• raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers
• ensure all children achieve as well as they possibly can
• support children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces

Free School Meals and help with trips

Currently, pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 2 are eligible to receive a free school lunch, paid for by the Government. This provision is called Universal Free School Meals (UFSM). In addition to this funding, parents in low income families or those who are unemployed can apply for Pupil Premium funding to continue to receive free school lunches in Years 3-6.

If you are registered for Pupil Premium you may also get help with the cost of school day trips and residential trips.

Are you eligible?

If you receive any of these benefits, you may be eligible:

• Income Support
• Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
• Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• The Guarentee element of State Pension Credit
• Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,190
• Working Tax Credit 'run-on' 

No one will know you have registered and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.

Applying for Financial support

Please email the office on office.3254@trinity.oxon.sch.uk in confidence and we will be able to check your eligibility and advise you of the next steps.

If you successfully qualify then your child will be eligible for free meals. Even if you don't want your child to have free meals, as long as you qualify and are registered, then your child will still get extra targeted support or activities from the funding.

Pupil Premium spending at Trinity

Our key objective in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to narrow the gap between pupil groups. As a school we have an excellent track record of ensuring that pupils make good progress, but historically levels of attainment have been lower for FSM (eligible for free school meals) – this has also been a national trend. Through targeted interventions we are working to eliminate barriers to learning and progress. For children who start school with low attainment on entry, our aim is to ensure that they make accelerated progress in order to reach age related expectations as they move through the school. Our results show that our pupil premium children are performing much more in line and in some cases exceeding within their year groups.

We have analysed our data thoroughly and in addition to this we have identified some key principles, which we believe will maximise the impact of our pupil premium spending and provide a culture where:

• staff believe in ALL children
• there are “no excuses” made for underperformance
• staff adopt a “solution-focused” approach to overcoming barriers

Trinity CE Primary School aims to tackle the range of barriers including; attendance, behaviour, external factors, professional development and seeks to focus on improving outcomes for vulnerable groups of children through improving the quality of teaching and learning, parental engagement, opportunities for first-hand experiences and development of literacy and numeracy skills.

Trinity CE Primary School uses assessment systems, case studies and pupil profiles to track and enable thorough analysis of data (Reading, Writing and Maths) to identify pupils who are under achieving and why.  We direct resources and interventions to accelerate progress of vulnerable groups of children to close the attainment gap compared to their peers.  We also ensure class teachers, phase leaders and subject leaders know which pupils are eligible for Pupil Premium, so they can take responsibility for accelerating progress and accountability is shared across our school.

Henley Education Trust Grants

If you do not qualify for Pupil Premium, but still need help with paying for things like uniform and school trips, then Henley Education Trust may be able to help. They offer grants to qualifying pupils.  Please click here for more details and to apply.
