Spring Term 2025

Stem challenge

In DT, LKS2 have been busy designing and creating their own moving campaign posters! Using pivots and levers, they brought their adverts to life with creative designs made from cardboard, card, and split pins. The children showed fantastic problem-solving skills and imagination—it was wonderful to see their ideas take shape.

World Book Day

Year 4 Pilkey had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! The children looked amazing in their costumes, bringing their favourite book characters to life. They had so much fun taking part in a thrilling scavenger hunt, working together to find hidden clues and solve challenges. It was a wonderful day filled with excitement, creativity, and a love for reading!

We have been working hard in maths this week, exploring fractions! The children have been matching fractions and learning about equivalent fractions, using different strategies to deepen their understanding. They’ve shown great enthusiasm and problem-solving skills—well done, everyone!

As a reward for their fantastic behaviour, Pilkey class enjoyed their well-earned marble reward activity! The children had a great time watching a film and taking part in a fun sports carousel, where they played hockey, table tennis, and football. It was a brilliant way to celebrate their hard work and teamwork—well done, everyone!

Year 3 and 4 really enjoyed when the visiting musicians from Henley Youth Festival introduced them to the world of brass and woodwind instruments! The children learned about the differences between these instrument families and explored musical concepts like pitch, harmony, and tone. It was a fantastic, interactive session that sparked curiosity and hopefully a deeper appreciation for music.

Pilkey class had an amazing time taking part in a Bhangra dance workshop as part of the Henley Youth Festival! The children loved learning the energetic moves and rhythms of this traditional Indian dance (surprisingly the boys seemed to enjoy it the most). It was a fantastic experience filled with music, laughter, and lots of enthusiasm. Well done to everyone for getting involved and dancing with such great energy!

Teamwork PE

This term in PE we have been focusing on team-building skills, learning the importance of working together and communicating effectively. Through a variety of team games, they have been developing their strategy, collaboration, and cohesion. It’s been fantastic to see them supporting each other, problem-solving, and strengthening their teamwork skills.

The children enjoyed taking part in the session with Steve Frew
